Our curriculum has been designed to give children key knowledge about their identity and their place in the world. Children need to know how modern day society has been shaped and the impact they can have in the future. Through our curriculum we ensure that children are ready for the next stage of their learning journey.
We aim to achieve academic excellence, social intelligence and ethical living through teaching our children these key knowledge threads; ambition, equity, civilisation, sustainability and identity.
Ambition – we want our children be ambitious; for themselves, for their community and the wider world. Through our curriculum we teach children how ambitious individuals have endeavoured to overcome adversity and challenge to be the best versions of themselves. We want our children to know that there are no glass ceilings and have the confidence to strive for a better future.
Equity – we want our children to be fair and just, and as adults, live without bias. Through our curriculum our children learn about inspirational people who have led the way to create a non-discriminatory society. We explore historical and modern day injustices and empower our children to know that they have a part to play in continuing the journey for a better world.
Innovation – we want our children to have a sound understanding of how modern day society has been shaped. Through our curriculum our children learn about the development of civilisation from the stone age to the present day. We explore the impact that cultural, technological and social advancements have had through the ages and want our children to strive to keep moving forward.
Sustainability – we want our children to know that the future of the world is vulnerable and the way we choose to live our lives can impact upon future generations. Through our curriculum children will learn about the current fragility of the world and know how to play their part in looking after the planet.
Identity – we want our children to celebrate themselves and their own uniqueness. Through our curriculum children learn about inspiring people, and places in their locality so that they can feel proud of who they are and where they are from. We explore our past and teach children that they can shape their own future.
