Year 1 materials

In Year 1 we've been looking at the properties of the materials that we use in everyday life. As scientists we had thoughts and ideas about how useful certain materials are and decided to test which materials would make the best umbrella.

Which material do you predict will be the best for an umbrella, cotton, paper or plastic?

Year 1 were inspired to show their creativity and imagination by creating homemade toys made from recycled materials instead. This has also helped the children to build a stronger knowledge of environmental awareness.
