Forest School & Outdoor Learning

At Greet we are exceptionally lucky to have extensive outdoor areas for our children to play and learn in. We are passionate about providing our children with the opportunity to learn outside as much as possible.

Children in EYFS have free flow access to a specially designed outdoor classroom. There is a separate space for our Nursery classes and our Reception classes. These areas have:

*mud kitchen

*scooter track

*water investigation stations

*loose part

We are working to further develop our green spaces using our Creating Futures Fund (read about this here).

Forest School

In partnership with the Wildlife Trust, we are growing our own beautiful forest school area. Forest School is a long term program that develops play, exploration and supported risk taking. It builds confidence and self-esteem in children through hands on experiences in a natural setting.

Our Forest School area overlooks the River Cole and is teeming with local wildlife!

We have:

* Log seating to create an outdoor classroom for 30 pupils.

* A fire pit for marshmallow toasting!

* Living willow tunnel and dome.

* Planting pergola with seating for growing and sensory exploration.

* Bat boxes, insect hotels & bird houses and wildlife cameras.

* A newly planted coppice area.

* Dead hedges with hedgerow planting.

Watch the video below to explore our Forest School virtually (listen to the birds!).
