Our topic this half term is, 'We are the same but different.'
This is a celebratory unit. We want to celebrate every child as an individual whilst allowing them to explore and recognise their place within the communities to which they belong: their family, their class, the whole school community and the wider Sparkhill community.
We want the children to celebrate themselves and their own uniqueness. Children will learn and be able to talk about who they are and where they come from. We want them to embrace the fact that it is positive to be an individual and to respect, understand and celebrate differences in others. We are all individual, unique pieces of a bigger picture. Our differences are what makes the picture beautiful.
Our key texts this half term are:
‘Odd Dog Out’ by Rob Biddulph
‘In every house on every street’ by Jess Hitchman
‘Colour Monster goes to school’ by Anna Llenas
‘All are welcome here’ by Alexandra Penfold
‘Let’s visit England’ by Annabelle Lynch
