"I have been proud to lead Greet Primary School for more than 16 years.  During that time I have seen hundreds of children enjoy their learning and achieve very well indeed.  We are committed to working closely with parents to ensure that our home school partnership benefits the children.   Our staff have high expectations and many have been here for some years, finding opportunities for promotion and professional development.

One of Greet’s strongest characteristics is that we are a robust learning community, confident in our ability to work hard and work together but not complacent about the challenges of ensuring that all children achieve the best they can.  We welcome change, development and innovation but we are also cautious in ensuring that we do not lose sight of the basic skills children need and the importance of their well-being.

External evaluation has graded us very positively in many areas of school life including achievement and leadership and management.  Our last Ofsted inspection (September 07) gave us an overall grade of outstanding.  It is recognised that we have developed good leadership capacity including the ability to support other schools.  For this reason I have been appointed a National Leader in Education and Greet is a National Support School.

We now have a Children’s Centre where the multi-agency work is expanding quickly and we are able to provide support for the community, especially those with very young children.  We are also members of an Extended Provision cluster which gives children opportunities to enjoy and achieve outside school hours and supports those who might be vulnerable.  Our most recent work has been the development of a hard federation with Conway Primary School.  We are very proud to have supported Conway by working closely together.   I am now the executive headteacher of both schools and we have one governing body.  Conway came out of special measures in March 2010 and Ofsted particularly acknowledged the impact of the federation.

Our next challenge is to manage the expansion of the school as we increase to 4-form entry (one extra class each year, beginning with reception in September 2010).  By September 2011 we shall have a beautiful new building!

I hope you enjoy finding out about Greet, whether you are a pupil, parent or member of staff.  We always welcome visitors to the school and would appreciate any feedback.  If you are considering sending your child to Greet or applying to work here – join us!  You won’t be disappointed."
